Yorkshire Estate Agents & Lettings

Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK. Because of its size, it is often split into North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Here you’ll find large stretches of unspoiled countryside, notably the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Peak District national parks. It’s a beautiful place to live, with large culturally rich cities and idyllic towns and villages.

What is it like to live in Yorkshire?

It’s hard to capture this entire area in a short paragraph, but living in Yorkshire, you are never far from some of the best natural landscapes in the country, even when based in some of the cities and larger towns. It attracts people looking for a slower pace but isn’t without the cultural highlights of a city or two.

Property is more affordable here than down South, so many families choose to upgrade to a larger property here and commute to work as it’s worth a little extra travel time. The Yorkshire coast is a picturesque draw for those who want to live in pretty seaside towns. Places like Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay are popular.

Yorkshire is often noted for its friendliness – you’re sure to find community spirit wherever you move to. You’ll also find a wealth of history around almost every corner, with historical hotspots including Wensleydale and Haworth where the Bronte sisters lived.

Yorkshire’s property hotspots

Whitby featured in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but there’s nothing spooky about this beautiful seaside town. Moving here takes you a little off the beaten track, but you can find roomy terraced houses on both sides of the banks of the Esk, plus stone cottages and larger townhouses in The Old Town. Other popular coastal areas include Sandsend on the coast Robin’s Hood Bay, both of which frequently place on ‘top places to visit’ lists.

York is incredibly well-connected as it sits on the east-coast mainline with London only two/two-and-a-half hours away. It's 12 miles to the A1(M) and The Moors, Dales, and coast are 30 minutes away. Schools are good and houses range from large Georgian properties to affordable apartments.

If you enjoy Victorian architecture and want to live in a cultural hotspot, head to Leeds. Homes overlooking the River Aire are popular, while the city centre attracts professionals looking for affordable rents. Or if idyllic villages are more your things, West Burton on the Yorkshire Dales is one of the prettiest with a large village green flanked with old stone cottages at its centre.
