We know Chelmsford
The city of Chelmsford houses the main offices of Essex County Council. It is on the rail line to London and Norwich and has a great community feel. Chelmsford is the county town of Essex and was made a city by Her Majesty the Queen as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012. It’s a dynamic, exciting place to live, with plenty of new commercial and residential developments and lots going on.
With a population of over 170,000, it has much to offer – a great shopping district, the site of a new John Lewis store and high performing schools including the Chelmsford County High School for Girls and the King Edward VI Grammar School.
Plus there are also plenty of open parks and a great social scene for both young and old.
Chelmsford has some great shopping, thanks to a new, large John Lewis. There are two indoor shopping centres, a bustling high street and a regular market. There’s something to appeal to everyone here too, from bars, clubs, cinemas and restaurants to shows at the Civic Theatre, parks, gyms and annual festivals.
