We know Leicester
Leicester is a city close to the M1 and about an hour and a half away from London. The population stands in excess of 330,000 people. The area is deemed to be quiet with lots of nature and a high standard university. The atmosphere is generally family friendly.
There’s something for everyone in Leicester, from the Highcross, the city’s shopping and entertainment hub, with its 100 stores, restaurants, bars and multiplex cinema, to the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, and the award-winning National Space Centre.
There is a multitude of schools with good ratings, for example Rushey Mead Secondary School was rated as outstanding, and the area reflects a lot of its Victorian history.
In 2012, Leicester became the focus for history and archaeology buffs when the skeleton of King Richard III was found under a car park. You can visit a £4 million visitor centre near the site of the discovery, which tells his story with impressive effects.
