Hockley is a large village in Essex that sits between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea.  It's railway line offers good connections to London, taking around 45 minutes, so it is perfect for commuters.  Connections to the A127 and M25 trunk roads are also good for those commuting elsewhere by car.

Hockley has many pubs, restaurants, shops, hotels and schools and is set in some of the most attractive countryside in the Rochford District Council area.  The schools are excellent in the Hockley area. The local primary school is rated ‘outstanding’ and the majority are rated ‘good’. At secondary level, FitzWimarc School and the Sweyne Park School are both rated ‘outstanding’.

Hockley Woods, south west of the village, is a popular destination for everyone from cyclists to horse riders, walkers to runners. It covers over 130 hectares and is a huge area of wild wood, left after the Ice Age thousands of years ago.
