Historic Colchester is proud of its ancient Roman history and is now home to a population of over 177,000 and the British Army’s 16 Air Assault Brigade. It has a high employment rate, a thriving local economy, a great shopping scene and vibrant nightlife, and is just 42 minutes by train from London. Around 79 per cent of people say they feel satisfied with the local area as a place to live according to a Colchester Borough Council survey.

Colchester has some fantastic transport links, which add to its appeal. The A12 connects the town to London, and direct trains run from Colchester to London Liverpool Street. The town is only a short drive to the beaches and sailing at Mersea Island, and an hour’s drive from the beautiful Suffolk towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold.
