Borehamwood is best known for its association with the British film industry; Elstree Film Studios, considered London’s number 1 film and television studio was the birthplace of films such as Indiana Jones, Superman, The Shining, and Labyrinth.
Borehamwood is located in the borough of Hertsmere. Nearby attractions One major attraction in Borehamwood is the Elstree and Borehamwood Museum, which shares the history and legacy of almost 100 years of film and television in Borehamwood and Elstree. For an entertaining evening out, visit the Ark Theatre which puts on a range of work from touring production companies and local community groups; acts including drama, tribute bands, dance, and comedy. Fans of retail therapy can enjoy Borehamwood Shopping Park, which offers a vast range of retail stores, coffee shops and restaurants.
Commuters will be pleased to know that Borehamwood is well connected, hence its inclusion on the London commuter belt. It offers great access to both the M25 and M1 motorways, the former looping around London and the latter connecting southbound to London’s Brent Cross and northbound to Luton, Milton Keynes and Northampton. If you prefer rail travel, the Elstree and Borehamwood railway station offers services to Surrey and Luton, as well as further north to St Albans city.
