Bedford is best known for…
Bedford is best known locally for the Bedford River Festival.
Bedford is situated within its own borough of Bedford.
Bedford’s best known attraction is the Bedford River Festival, a weekend festival that boasts live musical performances, a road parade, boat shows/races and a fireworks display. Bedford also has a range of museums to explore, including the Higgins Bedford Art Gallery and Museum and the John Bunyan Museum, which tells the story of the renowned author, pastor and preacher, John Bunyan. Those who enjoy shopping will love what Bedford has to offer; The Arcade offers a unique shopping experience away from the high street, boasting a wide selection of high street stores, florists, and home furnishing and jewellery stores.
Bedford sits on the A6 road and is also close to the A1 and the M1, two of the most major north-south routes in Great Britain. The A1 which sits east of Bedford connects northwards to Doncaster and Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City to the south. The M1 west of Bedford connects southwards to Watford and Edgware and northwards to areas like Northampton, Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield. Bedford also has two railway stations; Bedford (Midland) is on the Midland Main Line and East Midlands Trains also serves the station, providing services to St Pancras, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds. Bedford St Johns railway station also serves the area and is the penultimate stop on the Marston Vale Line.

Our favourite places
We tend to go to the local pubs for food and drinks since we’ve come to know many of their owners over the years. All of the local pubs offer a friendly, inviting atmosphere.
