Doncaster is a large minster town in south Yorkshire and has a population of over 127,000, but the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, which it is part of, has over 300,000.

Doncaster has been enjoying some major regeneration projects in recent years, including a new cultural quarter, the train station is being transformed, a new central library and museum are in the works and the popular Lakeside area is being revamped.

The town, situated about 20 miles from Sheffield, has a well-known market that has been operating for hundreds of years and is the biggest traditional market in the north of England.  Doncaster Market is open three times a week and has over 400 stalls to browse and employes 1,000 people. There are regular farmers’ markets, a fish market plus the International Food Hall and Corn Exchange, which sells fresh produce.

Doncaster is also well served with many primary and secondary schools.
