Bristol

Bristol is a fantastic place to live and as the Tourist information centre states it’s much ‘more than a city’. The South West of England has plenty to offer but if you choose to buy property for sale in Bristol you may not need to travel far from home for entertainment. One of England’s core cities, Londoners with young families are often tempted by Bristol, with its lively café culture, bubbling night life and many parks and open spaces, a more relaxed social atmosphere can be experienced. For Londoners house sales will seem cheap, others may not think so but there are many areas to choose from and prices will vary depending on the location.

Bristol - The home of great engineering achievements

Once the second largest ports in England, Bristol city docks are now thriving recreational areas and buying a home here gives you immediate access to the city centre. At your leisure you can visit its museums, bars and theatres, including Isambard Kingdom Brunel's SS Great Britain the winner of the Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year 2006 - the Biggest Arts Prize in the U.K. Concorde, the world's first commercial supersonic jet was designed and built in Bristol at Filton and the aerospace industry remains a major segment of the local economy. Today it is not necessarily the industrial economy that encourages house sales many people looking at property for sale in Bristol choose it for the culture and quality of life. The list of venues is endless but includes seven theatres including Bristol Old Vic, two major museums including the Industrial Museum, preserved historic houses like Tudor Red Lodge, art gallery’s such as the Arnolfini, or you can walk the streets in search of graffiti artist Banksy’s work. It isn’t surprising that Bristol was a finalist for the 2008 European Capital of Culture.
