The beautiful village of Orsett, really is the best kept secret in Essex. The village is a regular “Gold” winner of the Anglia In Bloom title but in 2007 it excelled itself and won the “Best Overall” prize for the whole of East Anglia.
As well as its 2007 success, the village has several other claims to fame. It hosts the oldest one day County Show in England and in mediaeval times it was the home of the notorious Bishop of London, “Bloody" Bishop Bonner.
Orsett has the rare ability to retain its village feel, whilst still benefiting from its ideal location, which offers easy access to the M25 and other major transport links into London and surrounding areas.
There are the usual facilities that one would expect from a village, such as a Post Office, village shop, school, pub and active social circle. It has the added advantage of having its own hospital and easy access to towns such as Grays, as well as the renowned shopping centres of Lakeside and Bluewater. The village also offers many sporting activities, including golf at the prestigious Orsett Golf Club.
Orsett is proud of its heritage and its successful mix of the new and old. Orsett Hall has recently been rebuilt following a major fire and the village’s position within a conservation area helps to ensure that any change is carefully managed.
